- Journeyman Mechanic $32.26 - $41.43, plus up to $3 per hour with ASE certifications
- Journeyman Electronic Technician $32.26 - $41.43
- Mechanic (Body and Upholstery) $29.05 - $40.55
- Automotive Mechanic $29.05 - $39.37, plus up to $3 per hour with ASE certifications
- Apprentice Mechanic $28.87 - $33.13
- Service Worker $23.80 - $28.36
- Mechanic Helper $27.03 - $27.44

- Facilities Technician $25.22 - $34.98
- Senior Facilities Technician $26.97 - $37.36

- ASE testing reimbursement and incremental pay increases for certifications earned and maintained
Our fleet features advanced battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, supported by a high-voltage maintenance program that meets NFPA and OSHA standards. Mechanics receive ongoing training on evolving transit technologies—including HVAC, fire suppression, and gas detection systems—to stay ready for the latest innovations.

Maintenance Certification Course
This paid nine-month course covers all aspects of bus maintenance. OCTA also provides access to additional no-cost training opportunities for employees.
ASE Certification
Earn $0.25/hour for each ASE certification, up to $2/hour for completing a Master Technician series. Add an L1 or L2 certification to boost your total to $3/hour.
Apprentice Mechanic Program
This two-year, state-approved apprentice program combines classroom learning with hands-on training, leading to a California journeyman mechanic certification.
