Pledge to ride a bike throughout May for a chance to win an e-bike prize package, stay active, and help improve air quality in Orange County
ORANGE –The Orange County Transportation Authority is inviting people of all ages and abilities to take part in Bike Month this May by pledging to ride a bicycle – for commuting, for fun, or for fitness – as part of a countywide celebration of active transportation.
This year’s “Every Ride is Your Story” campaign encourages participants to ride at least once during May. Those who pledge online will be entered to win a commuter e-bike prize package, sponsored by Ferla and Spectrumotion.
“Whether you’re commuting to work, taking a weekend ride with your family, or exploring one of Orange County’s beautiful bikeways, Bike Month is a great time to hop on a bike,” said OCTA Chair Doug Chaffee, also the county’s Fourth District Supervisor. “Riding a bike is a fun and healthy way to travel, and every ride contributes to cleaner air in our communities.”
Bike Month highlights include:
- A chance to win a commuter e-bike prize package: Everyone who pledges to ride a bike in May will be entered into a raffle to win an Avant Agile Commuter E-Bike, along with accessories including an adult helmet, child helmet, bike lock, and baby seat.
- Make your pledge at www.octa.net/bikemonth.
- Bike Rally 2025: Join OCTA for a morning rally on Wednesday, May 28, featuring a group ride from the Orange Metrolink Station to OCTA Headquarters at 600 S. Main Street in Orange.
- The event includes prizes, food, speakers, and free Bike Month T-shirts for participants.
- The approximately 3-mile ride begins at 7:30 a.m.
- RSVP at www.octa.net/bikerally.
In addition to the Bike Rally, OCTA continues to promote safe cycling habits for all riders, including those using e-bikes. Resources and safety tips are available at www.octa.net/bike and www.octa.net/ebike.
Orange County offers more than 1,000 miles of bikeways, from beach paths to mountain trails, making it easier than ever to ride safely and explore the region on two wheels.
Over the last 15 years, OCTA has invested approximately $437 million in active transportation, including cycling and more than half (54%) of the county’s primary roadways include bike lanes.
