Lakeview Avenue Bridge Pile Driving Anticipated to Begin the Week of Aug. 25
Progress continues at the SR-91/Lakeview Avenue Interchange as crews prepare for construction of the new Lakeview bridge. Later this month, crews will begin pile driving.
Pile driving is anticipated to begin the week of Aug. 25 and continue in phases through early October, on weekdays. Crews may be on the worksite as early as 6 a.m. and are anticipated to perform pile driving activities at 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
While pile driving is a critical step in the construction process, it may also be noisy and cause some vibration. The construction team will monitor noise and vibration levels throughout the activity.
What is Pile Driving?
Pile driving is a common construction method used to build a strong foundation of large structures, such as bridges. During this process, long steel beams, known as piles, are driven deep into the ground with the help of a powerful hammer mounted on a construction rig.
Eastbound SR-91 Loop On-Ramp Closed for Approximately Two Years
The long-term closure of the eastbound SR-91 loop on-ramp from southbound Lakeview Avenue began on Monday, July 7 and will remain closed for approximately two years. This closure is required for crews to demolish and reconstruct a retaining wall on eastbound SR-91 beneath the existing bridge and to construct an abutment for the new bridge.
Motorists traveling southbound on Lakeview Avenue will be directed to access the eastbound SR-91 using Imperial Highway.
Detour signs will be posted in advance. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before traveling through the area.
