Construction on Segment 2 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in late 2026.

Segment 3 Construction is Underway

Construction is underway on Segment 3 of the SR-91 Improvement Project. This segment includes improvements to the SR-91 between Acacia Street and La Palma Avenue and surrounding areas designed to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support long-term mobility throughout the corridor.

Crews are actively performing bridge, roadway, and utility construction activities throughout the project area. Work may include excavation, concrete placement, utility relocations, retaining wall construction, bridge improvements, and other related construction operations. Construction activities may require periodic daytime and nighttime lane closures, ramp closures, and detours.

Additional construction updates and traffic alerts will be provided as work progresses.

Closures and Detours

Crews have begun partial demolition of the SR-91 bridge over State College Boulevard as part of ongoing bridge improvement work. Initial demolition activities took place from the night of Monday, June 8 through the morning of Thursday, June 11. Additional construction activities are anticipated in the coming weeks as bridge improvements continue. This work requires temporary freeway, ramp and local street closures, as well as detours, to safely accommodate construction operations. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signs when traveling through the project area.
