Reduced Fare Form: Youth (Ages 6-18)

Please fill out the application form. Be sure to have your eligibility document, signed parental consent form and photograph ready to upload. Download the parental consent form before getting started.

1. Wave Account Information

Please enter the email address and password to verify your Wave account.

2. Select Your School

If their school is not listed, select "Other".

3. Upload Your Eligibility Document
Select and upload one of the following documents to verify your eligibility.

NOTE: The eligibility document is only used for verification purposes and will not be retained.

4. Parental Consent Form

A parent or legal guardian must provide consent for you to participate in the Youth Ride Free program. Please upload the signed parental consent form below.

If you do not submit the form, your application will be denied and you will have to reapply.

5. Upload Your Photograph

Photo Guidelines

A recent photograph is necessary to complete your application, even if your eligibility document includes a photo. Applications with photos that do not meet the guidelines will be rejected.

  • The individual in the photo must be the applicant
  • Full face only, similar to a passport photo
  • No hats or sunglasses
  • Must use a plain white or off-white background only
  • A high resolution, color photograph is required

6. How Will You Use Wave?

Download the Wave mobile app and create a virtual card before continuing. You will need to enter your virtual card number on this application.

Providing this number will allow us to apply your reduced fare to your current virtual Wave card and you will not be mailed a new card.
Please enter the physical Wave card number you want to link your reduced fare status to. Only one card can be linked at one time.
Please enter the PIN number associated with the card number you entered above.

Upon application approval, your new Wave card will be linked with your reduced fare status to your account and mailed to you within 10-14 business days. You can then add value to your card in your account or at a participating retailer. Your initial reduced fare Wave card will be free of charge.

By submitting this application, I understand that the youth may lose the use of their youth reduced fare status if they do not abide by the conditions of the OCTA Reduced Fare Program. View the Wave System Conditions of Use and Privacy Notice.

The Orange County Transportation Authority reserves the right to make final reduced fare eligibility determination. This application is for internal use only and will not be subject to public review. It is understood that the issuance of OCTA’s reduced fare status is intended for the applicant only and cannot be shared with another person.
