The OCTA Community College Pass Program provides students at all nine Orange County community colleges with free travel on the OC Bus service to school, work or fun on safe, clean and reliable buses.

Your Community College Pass is Now on Wave!

All participating community colleges are now using Wave for the Community College Pass.

If you have not registered for your Wave account yet, you can still get started. Follow the steps below to set up your account and access your pass.

How to Get Your Pass

Review your school’s instructions. Check your school’s website for information and details relating to the OCTA Community College Pass.

Download the Wave by OCTA mobile app

Get the Wave app from the App Store or Google Play.

Create an account

Create your account using the same email you used to register for your classes, then create your free virtual card.

Link your school

One week before the semester begins, you’ll need to link your school.

  • Select “Card Options” then “Institutions”.
  • Find your school from the list and select “Link Institution”.
  • Click “See Passes” then select “Add Pass”. Your pass will be displayed.
  • Select “Order Now” to add your pass to your card.

How to Ride OC Bus

Free Group Training

Our new Transit Training workshops are the perfect solution for those who want to develop confident bus-riding skills online before heading out to explore Orange County.

In addition to English, workshops are available upon request in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean and Mandarin. Designed for groups of 10 to 20 people, registrants can participate from home or campus.

Getting Started

Students must be enrolled at one of the 9 participating Community Colleges in Orange County. Speak to your college’s student services office to request participation in the program.

Use the same email you used to register for classes at your community college.

Be sure to select the correct semester and whether you’re a full-time or part-time student.

After you successfully link your institution, click “Passes” and tap “Add Pass” to find your College Pass.

Using Your Pass

Once your College Pass is linked to your virtual card, tap the QR Code at the bottom of the screen and scan it at the validator.

Your balance will remain on the card until your Community College Pass expires. You can also transfer your balance to another card if needed.

Yes, your pass is valid on all regular OC Bus routes during the semester. Students must reapply every semester to qualify.

Contact your college’s student services office to request a physical card. Alternatively, you can purchase a physical Wave Card at the OCTA Store or a participating retailer. Create an account on octa.net/wave to link your Community College Pass to your physical Wave Card.

Yes, but your pass can only be active on one card or device at a time. Transfers between devices and cards are limited, so only switch if necessary.
