These closures are necessary to safely accommodate crane operations and girder placement activities.

Potential impacts may include backup alarms from construction vehicles, bright lights, noise, and traffic delays. This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Changes to Westbound SR-91 On-Ramp at Lakeview Avenue

As of Monday, March 2, motorists traveling both NB and SB on Lakeview Avenue will use a new signalized intersection to access the newly realigned WB SR-91 straight on-ramp, and the WB SR-91 loop on-ramp at Lakeview Avenue will be permanently closed.

Additionally, the eastern side of Lakeview Avenue will be fully closed to pedestrians through August 2026. The western side will be accessible to pedestrians.

As of July 7, 2025, Eastbound SR-91 Loop On-Ramp is Closed for Approximately Two Years

Construction on Segment 2 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in mid-2026.

Segment 3 Construction Coming Soon

Construction on Segment 3 of the SR-91 Improvement Project is expected to begin in February 2026, bringing major upgrades to the SR-91/SR-57 interchange and surrounding areas to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and support long-term mobility.

During the week of March 2, crews are scheduled to continue putting up construction signs within the corridor. K-rail placement and clearing and grubbing activities will follow.

Additional schedule updates will be shared in upcoming alerts.

Closures and Detours

A key element of this work is the full reconstruction of the La Palma Avenue bridge, which will provide modern lanes, wider sidewalks, and improved shoulders for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. To complete this effort, the existing bridge will first be demolished during two weekends of 55-hour directional closures on SR-91, followed by a year-long closure of the bridge itself to allow for reconstruction.
