ORANGE – Passenger rail service through San Clemente will be suspended beginning Monday, April 28, to allow for crews to safely conduct emergency construction aimed at stabilizing sections of track at immediate risk from landslides and coastal erosion.

Once the wall construction is complete, full passenger service is expected to resume. With Pacific Surfliner providing passenger rail service to and from Oceanside, and to limit the number of trains affecting construction daily, Metrolink will not resume service through the area right now.

Regular passenger rail service through San Clemente has resumed, restoring a critical link in Southern California’s transportation system with the completion of a catchment wall at Mariposa Point to protect the track.

Metrolink and Amtrak passenger rail service continues to be limited during the emergency repairs. Rail service could resume prior to construction completion, but no decision has been made. OCTA will work in partnership with all rail agencies to determine at what point service can safely restart.

Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner passenger rail service will safely resume through South Orange County on Saturday, June 7. The restoration of service will follow the completion of construction of the initial phase of emergency efforts to reinforce the most vulnerable areas along the rail line in San Clemente.

ORANGE – Passenger rail service, including Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner, is scheduled to fully and safely resume through South Orange County on Saturday, June 7, following the planned completion of construction of the initial phase of emergency efforts to reinforce the most vulnerable areas along the rail line in San Clemente.

Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner have resumed operating regular schedules following emergency construction effort.

Passenger rail service, including Metrolink and Amtrak, was stopped in late September out of an abundance of caution and to allow for the emergency repairs. OCTA is working with state and federal officials to secure necessary funding to pay for the emergency construction, estimated at $12 million.
