In June 2009, the Orange County Transportation Authority and the California Department of Transportation completed the State Route 22 Continuous Access HOV Survey. The purpose of the survey was to find out what commuters, both carpoolers and single drivers, thought about continuous access carpool lanes. The response was overwhelmingly positive.
Measure M, is a 30-year one half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements in Orange County from 2011 through 2041. After experiencing the success and progress of the original Measure M, nearly 70 percent of voters renewed the half-cent sales tax in 2006.

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), in partnership with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), is improving State Route 91 (SR-91) from State Route 57 (SR-57) to State Route 55 (SR-55).
