Can I still use the bus pass if I don't have a smartphone?

How does it work?
When you board, scan the pass on your smartphone.
When does it expire?
OC Bus app passes renew each semester upon enrollment. Students must maintain enrolled status to maintain eligibility for the program. All bus passes are non-transferable.
Who is eligible?
Irvine Valley College full-time and part-time credit students currently registered for the semester.
Who pays for it?
In order to address the lack of transportation as a barrier to student success, the Associated Students of Irvine Valley College (ASIVC) is supporting a free bus pass program for IVC students. This partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) will allow full-time and part-time credit students, beginning Fall 2021 to access all OCTA fixed-route buses for transportation to school, work, or other destinations. The first year of this three-year pilot program is funded by the Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), a part of the Cap-and-Trade Program. During the second and third years (Fall 2022 – Spring 2024), the cost of the program will be paid for by the ASIVC.
How do I get my pass?
Your pass will be available via OCTA’s mobile application. Students will have to create an account on the OC Bus mobile application in order to receive the mobile ticket. The email account used to register must be the same one used by the college administration for registration or preference. Please contact your college administration or registrar’s office for more details, if your email is not already known prior to setting up the account.
How long does processing take?
Enrollment does not guarantee immediate activation. Please wait up to 72 hours for processing.
How do I create an account/What if my account is not working?
- Only your IVC email can be used to create your account.
- The invite to add the mobile app is sent to your IVC email account. Make sure to use your IVC email account to create your account.
What if I'm having issues getting my pass?

What if I am taking classes at both Saddleback and IVC?
You are eligible for a mobile ticket through your college of record.
Is this pass valid on the weekend?
Yes, it is valid for school days, non-school days, holidays, etc.
Which lines/routes is the pass valid for?
- It is valid on all fixed route OCTA service (all regular lines of service). Not paratransit.
- You can use it on express routes but if they are inter-county you would have to pay a fare difference.
