OCTA will launch a new contactless fare payment system in October to make riding OC Bus and the upcoming OC Streetcar easier, more affordable and more convenient. The Wave fare payment system allows users to use a physical Wave card, Wave mobile account, or contactless card to pay as they go. Wave card features include:
Apply online for an OCTA Senior Reduced Fare ID number. This number can be used on our mobile app, OC Bus Mobile Pay, or to purchase from OCTA through the website, by phone or by mail. You may also apply for a physical card, which will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days. People with disabilities can enjoy riding OC Bus using a reduced fare.
This summer, OCTA will introduce a paperless fare payment system that will allow riders to pay only for rides taken rather than the fixed dollar amount on paper passes. Called Wave, it will include a new account-based system, a reloadable smart card, and a new mobile app.
The future of travel on OC Transit will revolve around our new Wave fare payment card. The Wave card will offer worry-free payments when you travel on OC Bus or OC Streetcar, no matter how many rides you take.
