Since 1991 OCTA has kept residents and commuters moving throughout Orange County by bus, freeway, rail, bike, walking, and rideshare programs.

Perhaps it is time for you to discover Santa Ana’s Historic District. It’s more than the iconic Old County Courthouse with its Arizona red sandstone walls and Temecula granite base. There over 25 historic buildings, an emerging arts scene, plus a wide variety of farm-to-table restaurants.

ORANGE – The Orange County Transportation Authority is set to close escrow on a building that will serve as its new headquarters – a move expected to save taxpayers approximately $50 million over the next 30 years compared to continuing to lease its current office space.

The streetcar will carry passengers between the busy Santa Ana transit center and a transit stop at Harbor Boulevard and Westminster Avenue in Garden Grove, running along Santa Ana Boulevard, Fourth Street and the Pacific Electric right-of-way and connecting with OCTA’s busiest bus routes.

Up until 1950, riders could take this streetcar from downtown Santa Ana to downtown Los Angeles. The bottom graphic shows what Orange County’s first modern streetcar may look like. The OC Streetcar is planned to begin service in 2019, ushering in a new era of transportation for Santa Ana and beyond.

OCTA is building OC Streetcar and The Walsh Group is the contractor. The beam placement marked the completion of the frame for the OC Streetcar’s Maintenance and Storage Facility (MSF) in Santa Ana, which is where the streetcar vehicles will be stored, washed and maintained.

Going green with OC Streetcar will generate foot traffic, bringing consumers into the heart of Santa Ana’s dynamic downtown, and reducing vehicle traffic to and from commercial centers in Garden Grove and beyond.

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is studying the development of a biking and walking trail connection along the former Pacific Electric Right-of-Way (PE ROW) corridor in Santa Ana and Garden Grove.

OC Streetcar is the first modern streetcar project to be built in Orange County and will serve Santa Ana’s historic and thriving downtown, which includes federal, state and local courthouses, government o ices, colleges, an artists’ village and a thriving restaurant scene.
