Construction work will require a shutdown of passenger rail so the work can be performed safely and efficiently. When work will begin and the length of a necessary closure has yet to be scheduled. OCTA, which owns the rail line, will continue to work with Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific-Surfliner to keep passengers informed as the schedule is solidified.

Passenger Rail Service between Orange and San Diego Counties to Resume April 17 All regular Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service is scheduled to resume beginning Monday, April 17, after the Orange County Transportation Authority’s emergency construction work has been successful in stopping slope movement and stabilizing the tracks in south San Clemente.
It is an emergency project to stabilize the railroad tracks in south San Clemente. The Orange County Transportation Authority, in coordination with Metrolink, has completed installation of ground anchors into a slope adjacent to the Cyprus Shore community. Passenger train service through the area was suspended in October 2022, and freight train service was reduced.
