The Orange County (OC) Loop is a vision for 66 miles of seamless connections and an opportunity for people to bike, walk, and connect to some of California’s most scenic beaches and inland reaches. About 88% of the OC Loop is already in place and is used by thousands of people.

This is Orange County, where the community’s first modern streetcar is on track to connect today’s excitement with tomorrow’s potential. When the 4.15 mile OC Streetcar makes its debut in Spring 2026, a new horizon of mobility will be revealed.

Kids of all ages can learn the rules of the road for bicycling, get safety tips for e-bikes, and practice their skills on a safety course. Bike repairs and maintenance will also be available. If you can’t join in person, there will also be two Virtual E-Bike Safety Workshops offered in June.

The process to build consensus on these regional bikeways began in 2011 through a series of studies for four different subareas of Orange County: North, West/Central, South, and the Foothills.

The 351-mile Los Angeles – San Diego – San Luis Obispo Rail Corridor (LOSSAN Corridor) travels through a six-county coastal region in Southern California and is the second busiest intercity passenger rail corridor in the United States and the busiest state-supported Amtrak route.

Orange County is a bicycle-friendly community with more than 1,000 miles of bikeways. Walking is one of the best forms of exercise and it’s gentle enough for most people at any age or fitness level. Projects such as the Regional Bikeway Strategies, Pedestrian Action Plan, and the OC Loop Advancement are furthering the vision of OC Active.

Darrell E. Johnson is the Chief Executive Officer of the Orange County Transportation Authority, leading an agency of 1,500 employees responsible for delivering projects, programs and services that improve mobility for the more than 3 million residents of Orange County.
