Project Overview

The project extended a westbound lane from the northbound (NB) SR-55/westbound (WB) SR-91 connector through the Tustin Avenue interchange. In addition, a westbound auxiliary lane from east of the NB SR-55/WB SR-91 connector to the Tustin Avenue off-ramp was reconstructed.

Project Benefits

  • The project added an additional Tustin Avenue exit bypass lane and a reconstructed auxiliary lane

  • The project modified the number one and two lanes of the connector to serve as two general purpose lanes that merge into one general purpose lane just west of Tustin Avenue Off-ramp

  • The Tustin Avenue Off-ramp was reconfigured to a two-lane exit on the freeway and expand to four lanes at end of the ramp

  • The project widened the Santa Ana River Bridge and installed retaining walls at various locations from east of the connector to Tustin Avenue

  • The project installed an overhead sign that spans the width of the Lakeview Avenue overcrossing
