OCTA will provide a virtual presentation on Thursday, May 18, from noon to 1 p.m. on the SR-55 (I-405 to I-5) Improvement Project. This update on progress made since construction began in summer 2022 will also look ahead at activities planned for the remainder of the year.
The I-405 Improvement Project has been awarded Project of the Year by the southern California chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), North America's only organization dedicated exclusively to the interests of professional construction project management.

OCTA continues to move forward on a project to improve northbound SR-57 in a critical part of the central Orange County freeway network. Recently, Parsons Transportation Group was selected to prepare plans, specifications and estimates for improvements to northbound SR-57 in Anaheim and Orange.
Planned to help increase capacity, improve operations and enhance safety in south Orange County, the I-5 South County Improvements Project is being built in three distinct segments, with each segment spanning approximately two miles. Construction on the second segment began mid-2019 and construction has been underway on the first segment since March 2020.

During 2023, OCTA and Caltrans made significant progress on the SR-55 (I-405 to I-5) Improvement Project.Three partially demolished bridges are being reconstructed, more than half of the 18 retaining walls are under construction, and new drainage systems are being installed including the more than 3,100-foot-long Lane Channel.
Work is nearly done on the I-5 South County Improvements Project, a 5.7-mile stretch of freeway that extends from Avenida Pico to San Juan Creek Road.
