Segment Overview This freeway improvement project is being built in three segments and includes several roadway, structural and operational improvements such as new general purpose lanes, improved interchanges as well as on- and off-ramps.

The overpass was built from approximately 200 feet south of Orchard Drive to 150 feet south of Eisenhower Circle. The Lakeview Avenue overcrossing is one of the seven grade separations within the OC Bridges Program.

Due to rapid growth in both residential development and employment, south Orange County residents are finding it increasingly difficult to avoid traffic congestion. Interstate 5 (I-5) is the main transportation corridor in the South County area. It is an eight-lane highway with traffic volumes as high as 350,000 vehicle trips per day.
