In addition to leading efforts to improve passenger rail ridership, reliability, coordination, and safety along the LOSSAN rail corridor, DeMartino will oversee management and operations of the state-supported, Amtrak-operated Pacific Surfliner intercity passenger rail service, replacing Jennifer L. Bergener, who has led the Agency since 2012.
On weekends, the Kids Ride Free discount allows up to three children 17 years old and under to ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult. Adults pay only $10 to ride Metrolink on Saturday or Sunday with the $10 Weekend Day Pass. No ticket is needed for children; they simply board the train with an accompanying adult.

The Orange County Rail Infrastructure Defense against Climate Change Plan addresses climate change stressors in Disadvantaged Community or Low-Income census tracts; of the 12 rail stations in Orange County, ten are in or near Disadvantaged Community or Low-Income census tracts providing service to these communities.
Since 1991 OCTA has kept residents and commuters moving throughout Orange County by bus, freeway, rail, bike, walking, and rideshare programs. Our projects and programs improve safety and efficiency on our local roads, provide bus service and regional multimodal connections, help people find ways to leave their cars home, and provide safe, convenient transportation to those with special needs.
In addition to rail service, dedicated Amtrak Thruway bus connections supplement the train by providing transportation for rail passengers making connections to Pacific Surfliner trains along the rail corridor. Thruway Buses provide connections between Northern and Southern California, and between Orange County and Palm Springs/Coachella Valley.
Turnstiles have been placed at each of the subway and light rail entrances in Los Angeles County as part of the TAP system. Metrolink riders are required to physically tap their tickets at turnstiles and validators when transferring to a Metro Rail line. A TAP-compatible ticket or TAP Card is required to pass through the turnstile.
Twenty-five percent of net revenues from the Renewed Measure M Transportation Investment Plan is allocated towards building and improving rail and bus transportation in Orange County.
