Residents in Dana Point will get relief from train horns as the city joined six other quiet zone communities in Orange County last Thursday. OCTA partnered with eight cities to implement an $85-million rail safety enhancement program at 52 railroad crossings throughout Orange County, paving the way for seven cities that succesfully applied for quiet zone designation.
The work will take place at the Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge and the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) to northbound I-405 connector and will continue sporadically between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays during the next several months. In addition, pile driving will resume on Jan. 21 to construct the new SR-22/I-405 carpool connectors.
