On May 7, 2025, the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report to Congress titled “Commuter Rail: Most Systems Struggling to Recover Ridership Following the COVID-19 Pandemic.” The report examines how commuter rail systems across the country have evolved since 2021.

Board Actions - 7/28/2025 Areas 1 and 2: Riprap Repairs All riprap repair have been completed under an emergency Coastal Development Permit issued by the California Coastal Commission. Area 3: Catchment Wall Construction is expected to begin soon on a 1,350-foot-long catchment wall, which has been approved by the California Coastal Commission.

The Authority has established September 17, 2024, as the date to conduct interviews. Interviews will be held in Washington D.C. All prospective Offerors will be asked to keep this date available. Offerors are encouraged to subcontract with small businesses to the maximum extent possible.

The 2025 service begins Saturday, July 19, and continues every Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 17. OC Fair Express will provide convenient, non-stop service from five locations throughout Orange County directly to the OC Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, running from approximately 10 a.m. to midnight every Saturday and Sunday during the fair.
