ORANGE – Crews made significant progress this week in the ongoing emergency work to stabilize the coastal rail line in San Clemente, which is scheduled to remain closed to passenger rail service for approximately five more weeks.
ORANGE – Work will continue daily through the Memorial Day weekend, including Monday, on emergency efforts to reinforce the most vulnerable areas along the rail line in San Clemente. Passenger rail service continues to be temporarily halted through the area.
The Tustin train station, built in 2002, is located near the corner of Edinger Avenue and Jamboree Road (State Route 261). It is just east of the former Marine Corps Air Station Tustin, whose hangars, built during World War II, inspired the train station’s architecture.
The Orange County Transportation Authority, in coordination with Metrolink, is taking emergency action to stabilize the rail line in north San Clemente. The work is necessary to address urgent threats from slope and beach erosion and to protect the community, rail passengers and overall rail operations.
