I- 405 Improvement Project This $2 billion project will improve 16 miles of the I‐ 405 in both directions between SR- 73 and I-605 through the cities of Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Westminster.
The project is adding one regular lane in each direction between Euclid Street to I-605, and a second lane in each direction in the center of the freeway from SR- 73 to I-605 that will combine with the existing carpool lanes to form the 405 Express Lanes. Begun in 2018, the project is more than 70 percent complete.
