Passenger rail service is expected to be suspended for approximately six weeks, beginning on Monday, April 28, while crews work to repair and reinforce the most vulnerable segments of the track. The closure affects both Metrolink’s Orange County and Inland Empire- Orange County lines, as well as Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner trains through the area.
OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will add one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction, as well as merge lanes between several interchanges. SR-55 is a vital north-south freeway that links central Orange County and beyond to the coastal region.
South Orange County residents will spend most of this year continuing to confront occasional construction-related congestion and late-night freeway segment closures along the I-5 in areas like Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills and Lake Forest.
