ORANGE – All regular Metrolink and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service is scheduled to resume beginning Monday, April 17, after the Orange County Transportation Authority’s emergency construction work has been successful in stopping slope movement and stabilizing the tracks in south San Clemente.

Because of sliding hillsides on privately owned land above the tracks and coastal erosion on the ocean side, the rail line was forced to close multiple times in the past three years for emergency repairs, resulting in over 12 months of closures combined.

Metrolink has suspended service south of the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station and is advising passengers to make alternate travel arrangements until service can be restored. Pacific Surfliner is offering bus bridges between Irvine and Oceanside to get passengers around the closure.

FSP aims to keep traffic moving and reduce congestion by assisting with minor roadside repairs and removing disabled vehicles and debris from the roadway. All FSP services are free to motorists.
