Long-Term Transportation Improvements Identified for South Orange County

In October 2008, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors approved a strategy to address future transportation demands in south Orange County.  The strategy, called a Locally Preferred Strategy (LPS), is comprised of transportation improvement projects and concepts designed to improve mobility in south Orange County. This decision marks the end of a nearly three-year Major Investment Study that identified the region’s long-term transportation needs and developed a broad range of potential improvement alternatives that were narrowed down to create the LPS.

Moving forward, OCTA staff will continue to study and evaluate the transportation improvement concepts and projects identified in the LPS. These improvements are multi-modal in nature and include South County’s freeways, toll roads, streets and major arterials for east-west connections, bus and rail transit, as well as general system improvements.

As projects move forward for study and development, public involvement is critical. To be included on future updates on south Orange Countytransportation studies and projects add you name to our South County Transportation interest list.  Please click here.
