Mayor Pro Tem, City of Huntington Beach
A graduate of Huntington Beach High School, Director Matthew Harper is currently the Mayor Pro Tem of the City of Huntington Beach where he has served on the City Council since elected by the voters on November 2, 2010.
Director Harper serves as one of 17 voting members on the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Board of Directors and as a Director for the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG).
Prior to his service on the Huntington Beach City Council, Director Harper was elected by the voters to three complete terms to the Board of Trustees for the Huntington Beach Union High School District (HBUHSD) starting in 1998. The HBUHSD includes Huntington Beach, most of Westminster, most of Fountain Valley, Midway City, Sunset Beach and a portion of Garden Grove.
Director Harper earned his degree in Public Policy & Management from the University of Southern California. Licensed by the California Department of Real Estate since 2001, Director Harper currently holds a real estate broker license.
