Councilmember, City of Garden Grove

Director Stephanie Klopfenstein, born and raised in Garden Grove with family roots dating back to the town's early 1800s, was elected to the Garden Grove City Council in November 2016 and subsequently reelected in November 2020. Orange County's City Selection Committee selected Klopfenstein as a city council representative to the OCTA Board of Directors in November 2023.

Klopfenstein brings a deep connection to her community with a diverse background that includes international experience in radio broadcasting and a degree in marketing from Concordia University.

Engaged extensively in community affairs, Klopfenstein serves on the Garden Grove Parks, Recreation, and Arts Commission. She is also a board member of the Garden Grove Neighborhood Association, a member of CHOC Hospitals Lamp Lighter Guild, and a member of the Garden Grove Downtown Business Association. Further, she serves as a representative for the Association of California Cities Orange County and the Orange County Vector Control District.

Klopfenstein embodies a community-focused approach, combining her local roots, diverse experiences, and active involvement to contribute meaningfully to the future of public transportation in Garden Grove and Orange County.

A proud product of the Garden Grove Unified School District, Klopfenstein spent time traveling and working abroad in radio broadcasting. Drawn back to her deep ancestral roots and desire to give back to her city, she returned to Garden Grove. Following studies at Concordia University, she married and began a career in marketing.

Director Stephanie Klopfenstein values time spent with her husband and young daughter, exploring the Eastern Sierra, cooking, and enjoying a good book.
