Senior Mobility Program Helps Older Adults Stay Connected

Through OCTA's Senior Mobility Program, older adults throughout Orange County can access local transportation services for everyday trips, including medical appointments, grocery shopping, senior centers, work and social activities. The program is provided through participating Orange County cities and community organizations, helping to fill transportation gaps.

OCTA recently approved continued funding for the program through 2031, ensuring these services remain available for years to come. Funded by Measure M, the program provided more than 286,000 rides during the last fiscal year and has helped older adults take nearly 3.5 million trips since it began.
A Piece of Rail History Finds a New Home in San Juan Capistrano

If you've ridden Metrolink through San Juan Capistrano, you've crossed an important piece of Orange County rail history.

As part of the recent San Juan Creek Bridge replacement project, OCTA preserved a cast-iron plaque from the original 1917 railroad bridge and presented it to the City of San Juan Capistrano. The plaque is one of the few remaining pieces of the historic bridge, which carried passenger and freight trains across San Juan Creek for more than a century.

In October 2025, rail service successfully shifted onto the newly constructed San Juan Creek Bridge, marking a major milestone in efforts to modernize rail infrastructure along the corridor. The new bridge is designed to provide safer, more reliable rail service for years to come, while the preserved plaque helps keep a small piece of Orange County's rail history alive.
