College Pass Program

The first of its kind in Orange County, the College Pass Program allows enrolled students to travel free on any OC Bus fixed route. OCTA continues to expand on the success of the program, which began at Santa Ana College in 2017. Participating colleges include Cypress College, Santiago Canyon College in Orange, Golden West College in Huntington Beach, Fullerton College in Fullerton, and Saddleback College in Mission Viejo.

As a result of the program, thousands of full-time, part-time and continuing education students have access to unlimited rides on all OC Bus local routes. They enjoy a free, comfortable ride while avoiding parking costs and hassles and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment.

In many cases, the program provides opportunities to disadvantaged students to help them attend classes and achieve their dreams.

Environmental Benefits

OCTA's commitment has resulted in:
  • The College Pass Program reduces air pollution by taking cars off the road and has successfully encouraged students to use public transportation.
  • Funding at some colleges is provided by Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP), a part of the state Cap-and-Trade Program; the Mobile Source Air Pollution Review Committee (MSRC); and student funds.
  • In a survey of Santa Ana College participants, 88% said they had not used campus parking since getting the pass, thereby reducing VMT and emissions.

OCTA's Student Bus Pass Program Expands to Cypress College

The Orange County Transportation Authority is introducing more students to the convenience and affordability of public transit by expanding its student bus pass program to Cypress College - a shared-cost program that allows enrolled students to travel free on any OC Bus fixed route.

Student Bus Pass Program Expands to Golden West, Fullerton Colleges

Transportation and education officials last week marked the expansion of OCTA's student bus pass program to two more college campuses, allowing enrolled students to travel to school, work, or other destinations served by all 60 OC Bus fixed routes by showing their IDs or using the OC Bus Mobile App.

OCTA Launches Santa Ana College Pass Program

OCTA is purchasing 10 plug-in battery-electric buses for a pilot program to test how the buses perform on Orange County streets.
