Traffic Light Synchronization Program first step toward countywide improvements

Measure M and state funds to support 10 roadway projects by 2011

Based on the results found in the Euclid Street and Oso Parkway/Pacific Drive projects, OCTA is currently working with Caltrans and local cities to develop the master plan for countywide synchronization. As plans for future improvements develop, the $8 million Measure M and state funded Traffic Light Synchronization Program will synchronize 10 roadways between 2009 and 2011.

Once synchronization is complete, cities and Caltrans will be responsible for maintaining traffic light systems and making any necessary adjustments, as congestion levels tend to change over time.

More green lights in your city: 10 major roads will be synchronized

Regional signal synchronization plans underway

OCTA is currently developing a master plan to improve traffic flow by implementing regional signal coordination programs across city boundaries. Looking toward the future, in 2011 Renewed Measure M will fund the Regional Traffic Synchronization Program, targeting over 2,000 signalized intersections across the county.
