Signal synchronization demonstration projects are successful
Euclid Street and Oso Parkway / Pacific Park Drive first to experience traffic improvements
Currently, you can experience traffic light synchronization throughout the entire length of Euclid Street and Oso Parkway / Pacific Park Drive. The two roads served as demonstration projects in preparation for upcoming roadway improvements.
Future roadway enhancements, determined by the Traffic Light Synchronization Master Plan, will utilize the demonstration projects’ findings:
- 10 major Orange County roadways will be synchronized between 2009 and 2011
- Regional traffic signal synchronization will synchronize more than 2,000 signalized intersections when Renewed Measure M funding is available in 2011
Noticeable improvement in traffic flow
Drive time tests and traffic data collected before and after the synchronization of both pilot streets indicate traffic flow improvements exceeding industry standards of 10 to 12 percent reduction in travel time.
Euclid Street improvements
- 20% improvement in travel time
- 41% reduction in stops
Oso Parkway / Pacific Park Drive improvements
- 30% improvement in travel time
- 50% reduction in stops
