Transferring between transit systems
OCTA’s bus passes are accepted by most connecting transit systems. An additional fare may be required. For information on what is accepted by connecting transit systems, please contact that transit system directly. For an automated phone system that allows you to connect to over 40 local bus, rail, rideshare, highway and other transportation agencies, including OCTA, you can also call 800-COMMUTE (266-6883).
Transferring to Los Angeles Metro
- Metro honors OCTA 30-Day passes on Metro bus routes 62 and 460 that travel into Orange County or connect with OCTA buses. An additional fare may be required to travel on some Metro bus routes.
- Metro Rail lines will not honor OCTA passes as a transfer. The customer must pay a full fare.
Transferring to OCTA buses from connecting transit systems
OCTA will accept valid transfers from connecting transit systems at all transfer points. These transfers will be valid for one boarding only and have no value towards the purchase of a day pass. The driver will keep your transfer upon boarding an OCTA bus.
Additional fare for OCTA express buses
- Passengers transferring to Routes 701, 721 and 794 will need to pay an additional $3.00, or $3.40 for seniors and persons with disabilities with proper identification.
- Passengers transferring to Routes 757 and 758 will need to pay an additional $1.50, or $2.10 for seniors and persons with disabilities with proper identification.
Transferring from Los Angeles Metro
- Metro day passes cannot be used on OCTA buses.
- OCTA will honor Metro monthly bus passes and MTA TAP Cards at all bus stops along the line on the eleven OCTA routes that serve Los Angeles County (1, 30, 38, 42, 46, 50, 60, 701, 721, 757 and 758).
- Metro bus customers wishing to transfer to OCTA Express routes 701 and 721 will be charged an additional $3.00; routes 757 and 758 will be charged an additional $1.50.
Metrolink and Amtrak Trains
All OCTA bus routes, except routes 701, 721, 757, 758 and 794 honor Metrolink monthly passes and validated tickets as full fare on all local, fixed route buses. Passengers using Stationlink buses must show valid Metrolink pass or ticket, swipe a valid OCTA pass or pay the cash fare to board. Amtrak tickets cannot be used as transfers on OCTA buses.
