Metrolink Rocks!

Orange County's most popular local bands have jumped on board singing Metrolink's praises!

OCTA Idol

Over the years, Orange County has proven to be a hot spot for some of the world's top musicians—everybody from the Righteous Brothers to Social Distortion to Gwen Stefani. That's why a local competition to write the best song about how to ride Metrolink was so fierce.

OCTA met with local music venues, producers, fans and critics to create a short list of Orange County's top talent, and when the call went out for entries – the response was amazing.

Whether it was rap, rock, reggae or punk – OC bands submitted all original lyrics and recordings, putting their own unique spin on why it's cool to ride Metrolink. In addition to supporting a cause they believed in, mass transit, and "riding green" on the train, they were also competing to be featured in a professionally animated music video. (And who doesn't want to see themselves as a cartoon?)

Headshine Shines

The competition was tight, and all of the music was fantastic. Nevertheless, one song stood out for its feel-good vibe. With an acoustic sound as warm as a day at the beach, Headshine's "Catch a Ride on Metrolink" was a unanimous favorite. It's no wonder Headshine has opened for bands like the English Beat, Less Than Jake, Lit, and Jamaican reggae legend Prezident Brown, to name just a few.

Catch the Video, Then Catch the Train

Learning to ride Metrolink has never been more entertaining. Enjoy!
