
511 Motorist Aid and Travelers' Information System
The 511 Motorist Aid and Travelers’ Information System (MATIS) is an interactive voice response (IVR) telephone system (English and Spanish) and a web portal capable of providing a variety of traveler information and service to the public. This system is anticipated to be operational by late 2009 and will provide the following:
- Traffic speed, congestion, and incident information
- Roadwork advisories
- Bus trip planner and information
- Rail trip planner and information
- Carpool and ride matching information
- Park-and-ride information
- Airport information (website only)
This service will continue to be enhanced and the following features are expected to be available by late 2010:
- Alternative routing
- A non-emergency phone number to call for roadside assistance
- Airport information (IVR)
511 MATIS Funding
The 511 MATIS program is funded by a $1 annual fee on each vehicle registration used to fund the SAFE programs. Annual program costs are limited to the amount of revenue collected from vehicle registration fees and any interest earned.
