Larry R. Crandall
Councilman, City of Fountain Valley

Larry R. Crandall serves as the second supervisorial district representative on the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA). Additionally, he serves on the I-405 Major Investment Study (MIS), the Central Corridor MIS Policy Advisory Committee, the Measure M inter-jurisdictional planning forum (GMA 2 and GMA 6), and the Orange County League of California Cities.
He was first elected to the Fountain Valley Council in 1998 and served Fountain Valley as Mayor in 2001, 2005 and 2010. During his first term as Mayor, he had a vision of a united community for ethical values and used his Mayoral year in 2001 to establish Fountain Valley as a Character Counts! City. By heading a leadership team of community, business and organizational members, various activities were sponsored and presented throughout the year that highlighted the importance of building character.
Director Crandall was first elected to the Fountain Valley Elementary School District as Trustee in 1990 where he also served in many different capacities and as Board President in 1992 and 1996.
He has called many places home. Though born in Illinois, he spent some of his childhood in Missouri and California. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was stationed in Texas, Thailand (during the Vietnam War) and Florida where he was honorably discharged in 1974. He moved back to California and has called Fountain Valley home ever since.
After his discharge from military service, Director Crandall completed his bachelor's of art degree in political science with an emphasis in public administration from California State University, Fullerton. He also owned his own private investigation business and was involved in the Chamber of Commerce in Fountain Valley, serving as Vice President for many years. He is also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9557, Friends of the Fountain Valley Library as well as the Fountain Valley Historical Society, believing that the best way to give back to your community is to be involved.
Director Crandall and his wife, Sandra, have raised three children, Erica, Jillian and Mark. They now are proud grandparents of three grandsons: Clayton, Steven and Brandon.
