OCTA Seeks Input On Improving Traffic Across Orange County And Los Angeles County Line
Transportation officials from both Orange County and Los Angeles County are launching a landmark study and seeking public input to improve traffic in one of the nation’s most traveled regions.
In July, the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (METRO) joined forces to conduct the O.C./L.A. Intercounty Transportation Study – the first cooperative planning study between both agencies – to explore ways to improve travel across the O.C. and L.A. line.
The one-year, nearly $300,000 study will analyze bus, rail and vehicle traffic along the region and identify transportation needs in the two-county area, coordinate cross-border planning and improvements, and develop strategies to enhance connections between the two counties.
The public is encouraged to share their transportation concerns and recommendations to improve traffic by completing an online survey at www.octa.net/OC-LAstudy. Hard copies of the survey also are available. For more information, contact Marissa Espino, Senior Community Relations Specialist, at (714) 560-5607 or mespino@octa.net.
Additionally, the community may share their comments in spring 2008 when OCTA and METRO host two public workshops to present proposed conceptual alternatives. The dates and locations will be announced once scheduled.
This effort will help transportation planners identify the need for traffic improvements as well as provide an initial set of potential alternatives that may be subject to change.
The concepts developed through this study process will lay the foundation for future work between the two agencies, including further planning, engineering and environmental studies.
