The Urban Cycling Workshop, held on September 7th, provided class room safety instruction and on the road application of the course lesson in a nine mile ride through the City of Orange.
The on-road segment included various drills that taught effective techniques to avoid objects in the road, make emergency maneuvers and stop as quickly as possible.
Participants took an exam to pass the course, which served as a prerequisite to League of American Bicyclist Instructor certification. The diverse group of participants included OCTA’s CEO Will Kempton, transit professionals, city staff and bike advocates from Orange County.
