Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC)
Overview
The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) actively participates in helping examine traffic solutions, providing input to OCTA’s transportation studies and communicating with their constituencies. During the year, committee members are asked to participate in roundtable discussions and hear special presentations on various transportation projects, programs and services.
Major responsibilities include:
- Identifying opportunities for community input
- Recommending mechanisms and methodologies for obtaining public opinion on specific transportation issues
- Serving as a liaison between the public and OCTA
- Commenting on significant transportation issues and suggesting possible solutions
Selected by the OCTA Board of Directors, the CAC is composed of 34 members that reflect a broad spectrum of interests and all geographic areas of the county. The diverse members’ backgrounds range from community leadership to transportation research and engineering. Selection criteria for the CAC include demonstrated interest and involvement with community activities and transportation issues as well as a willingness to dedicate a minimum of 20 hours per year to OCTA meetings and activities.
