Mesure M Surf GirlsOn November 7, 2006, nearly seventy percent of Orange County voters approved the renewal of Measure M, a half-cent local transportation sales tax, for an additional 30 years beginning in 2011 until 2041. Renewed Measure M is expected to raise $11.8 billion to improve Orange County’s transportation system. Thirty-two percent of net revenues from Renewed Measure M—$3.6 billion—will be used to improve Orange County’s more than 6,500 lanes of aging streets and roads.
