ABOUT THE PLAN
The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) has developed a Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Coordination Plan for Orange County designed to address unmet specialized transportation needs throughout the county for seniors, persons with disabilities and persons of low income.
This coordinated plan is necessary for eligibility in the following federal funding programs:
Provides funding to support new alternatives to public transportation which extend beyond the ADA for persons with disabilities.
Provides funding to improve transportation services to employment and employment-related activities for welfare recipients and eligible low-income individuals.
- Seniors and Persons with Disabilities Capital Funds (Section 5310)
Awards capital funding to private non-profit organizations serving the transportation needs of older adults and persons with disabilities.
PROJECT GOALS
- Identify and promote partnerships to address specialized transportation needs among public or private non-profit, social service agencies or advocacy groups working with the target populations.
- Identify possible projects that can respond to needs and gaps emerging through the process and potential partners for implementation.
- Encourage new partnerships for the development of these projects and for application for funding under the coordinated planning process.
