Regional Gateways: ARTIC
ARTIC Project Vision
The ARTIC (Anaheim RegionalTransportation Intermodal Center) project will be an iconic, timeless transportation facility where people will seamlessly move between transit services to reach Southern California activity centers and business districts. Transit oriented development in the immediate area will integrate with the ARTIC project to form a vibrant Southern California community.
A Growing Community
With a population of more than 3 million, Orange County is the second largest county in California and the fifth largest county in the nation. Population is expected to continue to grow in the coming decades with a population of 3.7 million expected by 2040. The city of Anaheim is California's 10th largest city with nearly 350,000 residents and is in the heart of the county. The ARTIC project will serve this growing community--now and into the future.
Premier Location
The ARTIC project is conveniently situated at major freeways and a short walk from Angel Stadium of Anaheim and Honda Center, home of the 2007 Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks. The planned state-of-the-art facility will host a transportation hub, "LEEDTM Platinum Certified" sustainable building, and a mixed-use activity center on a 16-acre site publicly owned by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) and the City of Anaheim.
The ARTIC Project concept is to:
- Provide easy connections between the Platinum Triangle, Anaheim Resort, the southern California region and beyond
- Facilitate convenient travel via train, intercity bus, taxi, car, or local transit
- Accommodate high-speed train service infrastructure
The ARTIC project development will relocate the existing Metrolink station from its current location at Angel Stadium at Anaheim to the ARTIC site across from Honda Center. It will support existing transit services as well as accommodate future transit services such as the planned Metrolink service expansion and future Bus Rapid Transit service.
The station also will feature supporting retail, restaurants, civic space and passenger services within the building.
Project Development Underway
The city of Anaheim is leading the ARTIC project's development, which is currently in the design development phase.
Anaheim will be hosting an ARTIC Pre-Bid Workshop for interested contractors on Wednesday, May 2 at 3 p.m. This workshop will provide interested bidders an opportunity to obtain project information, network with other contractors and subcontractors and participate in an optional site walk in anticipation of the Notice Inviting Bids for the ARTIC construction contract.
The workshop will take place at the ARTIC job site located at the southeast corner of Katella Avenue and Douglass Road directly adjacent to the Santa Ana River. Those interested in completing a site walk must bring/wear personal protective equipment including a hard hat safety vest steel-toed shoes.
