OCTA Bike Rally Encourages Commuting by Bike
Bicyclists of all ages and skill levels are invited to join local elected officials, OCTA board members and staff for the annual OCTA Bike Rally during Bike Month. Participants will meet at the Orange Metrolink Station and bike 3 miles through Old Town Orange, along the Santiago Creek Trail, ending at OCTA headquarters on Main Street.
This year, the rally will be on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 a.m. as a preview for Bike to Work Week, which is May 11 – 15. OCTA encourages people who live or work in Orange County to try commuting by bike for Bike to Work Week. This year, the theme for Bike Month is Start a Chain Reaction, and the OCTA Bike Rally is the perfect time to start a chain reaction of healthy commuting. Commuting by bike helps to reduce traffic congestion and pollution; it also increases personal and environmental health.
We hope that you’ll be able to ride with us during the Bike Rally. If you aren’t able to, we encourage you to try riding to work, school, to run errands, or anywhere else you’d normally drive your car. With a year-round temperate climate and more than 1,000 miles of bikeways, Orange County is an ideal place to bike.
