OCTA Bike Rally Celebrates Cycling to Work
About 50 cyclists joined OCTA officials on May 15, 2014 for the OCTA Bike Rally, an annual event celebrating Bike to Work Week. Participants rallied at the Orange Metrolink Station and biked about three miles through Old Town Orange to OCTA headquarters on Main Street. OCTA encourages cycling to work to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution and increase exercise.
More cyclists participated this year than last. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of people who commute to work by bicycle increased about 60 percent over the past decade.
Thanks to all who joined the Bike Rally. But why bike to work just once a year? It’s easy to make biking a part of your commute by using BikeShare, taking your bike onboard a Metrolink train, and using Orange County’s more than 1,000 miles of bike paths. Time to get rolling!
