National Bike Month

For over 50 years, bicyclists in communities across the country have celebrated National Bike Month.  Whether you bike for work or play, for your personal health or the environment, Bike Month is the perfect time to celebrate all things bike!  Each May, bicyclists of all ages, skill and experience levels show the many reasons why they ride.

National Bike Month was established in 1956 to showcase the wide range of bicycling benefits and to encourage more people to try bicycling.  Bike Month in Orange County continues to grow with fun bicycle events and promotions from OCTA.  If you live in OC, or nearby, we encourage you to experience stress-free bicycling on the county’s designated bikeways – there’s over 1,000 miles to explore!

Bike Month 2015 will feature some new events and some local favorites like the Huntington Beach Bike Festival, Bike Rally and Bike to Work Week pledges.  During Bike Month, and throughout the year, OCTA encourages everyone to practice safe and smart bicycling. Bicycling safety depends on all of us – motorists, pedestrians and other bicyclists – together we can make our community a safer place to travel, no matter which mode you choose.

Be sure to check back for more updates on OCTA’s Bike Month Events and stay connected through our bike newsletter, so you don’t miss a thing.
