Kraemer Undercrossing
The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) will construct a vehicle undercrossing at the intersection of Kraemer Boulevard and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad. As part of the project, the roadway will be lowered to separate car traffic from train traffic. The undercrossing will be located between Chapman Avenue and Orangethorpe Avenue.
During construction, the entire intersection of Kraemer Boulevard and Crowther Avenue will be lowered and the rail traffic will pass over the cars. Temporary rail tracks will be built south of the current tracks, while the railroad bridge, retaining walls and roadway construction is underway. Once the intersection is completed, rail traffic will shift to the main line onto the new bridge. The intersection will be closed during a substantial period of the construction phase.
When completed, the project will move cars safely and smoothly under the railroad tracks, enhancing safety and boosting mobility.
