Southbound I-405 / Eastbound SR-22 Connector Bridge Demolition | Mid- to Late-Summer 2013
WHAT:
The southbound I-405 connector to the eastbound SR-22 freeway is being reconstructed in order to make room for the new SR-22 / I-405 carpool connector. Once construction on the new connector is complete, the old connector must be demolished. Since the southbound I-405 / eastbound SR-22 connector crosses over the I-405 freeway (near Valley View Street), in order to demolish the old structure, portions of the eastbound SR-22, northbound I-405 and southbound I-405 freeways will be closed for approximately 20 hours, over a weekend in mid- to late-summer 2013..
WHEN
Portions of the eastbound SR-22, northbound I-405 and southbound I-405 freeways will be closed from approximately 9 p.m. on a Saturday to approximately 5 p.m. on a Sunday. Please be advised these dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.
What will be closed?
- Northbound I-405 freeway will be closed at Valley View St.
- Southbound I-405 freeway will be closed at the I-605 freeway junction
- 7th St. / Eastbound SR-22 will be closed at southbound I-405 freeway junction

Seal Beach Boulevard Bridge Reconstruction
The Seal Beach Boulevard bridge over the I-405 freeway has been reduced to one lane in each direction, with a center median dedicated solely to emergency services vehicles. This configuration will remain in place for approximately 11 months.
In mid-2013 the bridge will be restored to two lanes in each direction until the new structure is completed in mid-2014. The final bridge will have four northbound lanes and three southbound lanes, essentially doubling the size of the original structure.
