  • OC ACCESS Service Eligibility

  • OC ACCESS was created in response to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). OCTA offers this service for individuals who are physically and/or mentally disabled and cannot use the regular fixed-route OC Bus service. Eligibility for OC ACCESS service is based on a person's functional abilities and limitations due to a disability, not a specific diagnosis or disability.

    OC ACCESS eligibility may be valid for up to 5 years. At the expiration of your eligibility, you must be recertified.

    For OC ACCESS Certification Eligibility Visitor's Request, please contact OC ACCESS Eligibility at 714-560-5956 or at accesseligibility@octa.net.

    The Visitor’s Alert message is in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the importance that OCTA places on the health and well-being of its employees and the community.

    Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

    What determines your eligibility?

    A person may be eligible for OC ACCESS service:

    1. If he or she is unable to board or exit the fixed-route OC Bus;
    2. If he or she is unable to get to or from a bus stop due to physical and/or environmental barrier
    3. If he or she does not understand how to ride the OC Bus service due to a cognitive disability.

    The Certification Process

    OCTA has a formal certification process that follows strict ADA guidelines. The certification process starts with a completed application, followed by an in-person functional assessment. Customers using a mobility device should bring it to their in-person functional assessment. Transportation is available to and from the in-person functional assessment upon request. The entire assessment process, including travel to and from the appointment, may take from 4 to 5 hours.

    If you are found eligible, an OC ACCESS identification number will be included with the notification letter, along with a Rider's Guide describing OC ACCESS services and how to use them.
