It is easy, inexpensive and you can enjoy the trip instead of worrying about traffic or the cost of gas. For those who are new to getting around Orange County on an OCTA bus, here are some quick steps to get you up and riding.

  1. Find Your Route. The best place to start is our system map. Simply locate your starting point and end destination then look for the route that will get you there.
  2. Plan Your Trip. With a route in mind you can plan your trip with estimated bus arrival information using Google Maps, or you can use our eBusbook where you can print a personalized booklet with just the routes and maps you need.
  3. Pick How You'll Pay. Determine how you will pay for your trip. You can always pay for individual trips when you board the bus, but you will save more money if you buy a pass. Our Fares and Passes section spells out all your options.
  4. Go Mobile. Use transit tools for mobile devices. New apps show use real-time bus location, estimated arrival times and detours.

Swipe and go
Use your pass just like a credit card. Simply swipe it through the farebox slot on the bus and you’re good to go. If you want to use cash, have your exact fare ready when you board the bus. The farebox doesn’t give change, or accept pennies.
